Thunderstorms likely with some possibly severe according to Jeff:
SPC has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for all SE TX counties until 100pm.

Radar has shown a rapid increase in thunderstorms over the past hour as a strong short wave over NE MX begins to move into TX. Strong lift coupled with a stationary surface boundary over the region and an unseasonably warm and humid air mass is resulting in the potential for isolated to scattered severe weather.

Strong wind shear exists across the region this morning with the Ledbetter Profiler showing 70-90kts at 6000 feet above the ground. Developing storms will have the tendency to become severe with the main threat being strong winds. Shear profiles do suggest a tornado risk over SE TX especially near the coast and from Galveston Bay ENE into SW LA. Damaging winds to 60mph will be possible with the stronger storms today. Clusters of storms near/along the cool front should move SE and exit the area early this afternoon as the SW TX short wave moves into LA.
