Unfortunately doesn't appear so. This type of set up usually does not produce wintry weather. If you want something to eye on sometime after the 10th of the month, the cold regions will have reloaded and with the persistent blocking pattern chances are better than previous Novembers. Analog years suggest between the 10th and 20th could present the first potential winter storm of the season for the southern plains.

Yesterday at 2 p.m., it was 85 degrees in Austin. Today, it's 52 degrees. Ah, what a difference -- er, a 33-degree difference -- a fall cold front makes!

High school football was an absolute joy last night... Along with the blankets and thermos. What a difference! LOVE IT!

High school football was an absolute joy last night... Along with the blankets and thermos. What a difference! LOVE IT!

48F last night at the house. Went to a HS football game too and i was miserable. The wind was brutal!

I guess it depends on your perspective. LOL! Definitely almost perfect weather for runners. Go Tireman, Go!!

Indeed this was a difference! Yesterday we had a high of 90 degrees and this morning a low of 51! Currently at 11AM is 55 and cloudy....Love this weather! :)

I loved it! My cheeks were red from the wind... But it felt "right!"

Re: Friday night football games ... I was standing on top of a press box trying to transcribe stats in that blustery north wind. Let's just say my enthusiasm for cooler weather was lessened by how dang cold I was! LOL.

Meanwhile, the PWC recorded a low temp this morning of 37 degrees. Pretty sure I'd have to go back to March or February to find a temp that low. Quite chilly!

:uarrow: There you go! I wasn't attempting to be a weather vane! My "perspective" was from the bleachers with and my husband under a blanket with a big (BIG) thermos of steaming hot mocha latte cheering on the team!

Fall! I love it. This is what fall is all about. Chilly weather, that's made for chili, football, and oh yeah, deer hunting. We had a cold 28 degrees up here in N. Arkansas this a.m. My daughter down in Tomball, Tx said they were in the 40's and she was freezing. LOL.

Yep, but it is a Pacific front. We'll get some rain out of it and slightly below seasonal norms. Next big cold airmass looks to be around November 10-12.

Right on Portastorm! Though I think it may be a little later than the 12th. The storm next week will leave energy behind in the Baja and if timing is right with the next big cold shot we might be throwing around fun and games with the Polar and Subtropical jet coming together :wink:

We've had 4 days with lows in the 40's ranging from 41f-44f. Our highs have climbed from the mid 50's to over 70 today. The sky has been blue and cloudless the whole time till today with some cirrus overhead. 40's are pretty much considered winter here in SE TX, but the highs are like fall so I guess we are on the cusp. bring those lows up 10-15 degrees and the keep the highs where they are and I will call it heaven.

Fun tidbit for the day. Overall global snow cover is equaling 2009 for the month, 1976 is not that far ahead. More importantly, the prairies of Canada are covered unlike last year when they remained snow free pretty much the entire winter. This should allow more cold to build and less modification as they come down this year when the pattern allows it.
