Definitely chilly here today. Won't warm up much from where we are now (unless you are in the southern half of Tx, front having a harder time pushing through that way). Low for tonight is expected to be 42 by NWS FW. The record at DFW for the date is 42. Pretty close.

Just took a night walk and...wow! It felt like winter out there with that blustery north wind. It's funny how a little northerly breeze can make you ready for the holidays in a matter of minutes.

Just stepped out for a smoke and I can't tell you how refreshing this cool air with wind is. I love it. I hope this is a harbinger of cold and colder this winter. Man, I can't wait! On a side note, the weatherman on Ch. 33 in Dallas(random, I know) mentioned a new record low-high was set today at DFW airport with a 57 degree reading. And tomorrow is forecsted to be only 58! Is this early October?

A RECORD LOW MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 57 DEGREES WAS SET AT DALLAS
FORT WORTH TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 58 DEGREES SET IN
1952.

These highs in North and Central Texas are December averages. We're going to warm back up to average this week, then a big storm will swing across the middle of the country and perhaps bring rain to parts of Texas. Early to tell but maybe some severe weather potential could be on tap.

That 57 degree high temperature was set at 12:30 in the morning too.

Woke up to temps in the upper 40s here in the Austin metro area ... not forecast I might add. Once again we see the strength of a cold front underestimated.

It sure does. All of my parrots (macaws) are sitting low on their perches this morning...letting their feathers cover their feet.... Still got my "good morning" though when I went to the kitchen for coffee!

50 degrees right now at the Weatherdude Center in south Cedar Park. Cloudy, moist. FANTABULOUS! Getting me ready for Thanksgiving!

Just saw hundreds of birds flying south for the winter. Wasn't able to get my video camera out in time, but there were a lot of them.

The models have underdone this chilly air mass. It was supposed to clear out and be back into the low 60s today, hard pressed to even get much above 50 with drizzle still around. Same story for Austin, mid to upper 50s at best and Houston nowhere near the 70s progged more like mid to low 60s.

I love it.

Frost advisory for the northwest half of the Metroplex. If you live in outlying areas with sensitive plants outside the urban areas should probably take precautions as well just in case. Mid 30s possible for those locations.
