Anyone know if Braithwaite was under an evacuation order?

WWL is saying that 450,000 people in southeast Louisiana are without power right now. I've heard some rather dimwitted people in my neck of the woods crowing about the "boring" hurricane or complaining about the lack of action in Alabama. Such reactions only prove their ignorance and lack of empathy. A hurricane is only boring if it doesn't come knocking on your door. End of story.

The impressive convection build-up of yesterday evening and last night is proof positive that a well-structured hurricane doesn't need a whole lot of Gulf to maintain itself. I don't see this storm making a lot of northward progress today, unfortunately. Look at that ridge and the dry air! Isaac is bumping himself along a metaphorical brick wall right now.

Don't know if it's just another wobble or the beginning of genuine movement, but to me, the last few frames (GR3) seem to be northward.

Agreed. I also heard complaints around my area regarding the "media hype over a tropical storm." Thank heavens for the hype because many people heeded the warnings.

TWC is reporting that some NOLA parishes are flooded and that people are stranded in their roofs waiting for rescue.

Movement is WNW...

Possible but I highly doubt it

Conditions will begin to deteriorate this afternoon and tonight with TS force winds and possibly heavy rain. A lot depends on how far west Isaac gets, but be prepared for strong TS winds.
