That's a very nice map and concept. I would remove the storm category legend from the S2k map through. It can be confusing people into thinking all in yellow = Cat 1 winds. I know it's not official.

Not to be flippant, but maybe the severe thunderstorms today in SE FL will help people remember that Isaac is large and impact may be real far from the cone, and thus take preparations seriously!

Hope power comes back soon and no one has been hurt.

This is exactly the attitude of everyone down here. I live near Homestead, and even down in FL. City they are talking about 20-30mph winds at best. Seems pretty reckless to me.

BOY did we just get a band from Isaac in Royal Palm Beach. If what just happened has nothing to do with the storm, I'd be very surprised. It was like a tropical storm for about 5 minutes. We've been getting a lot of rain lately but nothing like this...

Yes, but there's a big difference between a few short-lived gusts in a thunderstorm and hours of sustained tropical storm force winds.

Actually, Joe mentioned the NAM only in passing. He's has had his eye on the west coast trough for quite some time. I respect Joe's meteorological acumen and have interviewed him several times for my ClimateTruth blog.

We'll see in two or three days which direction this storm tracks. There are plenty of factors still in play that could influence Isaac's path.

Well, I guess things are going to be just fine in Palm Beach County on Monday. The school board has stated that all public schools will be open on Monday because it doesn't appear that Isaac will have a "direct impact" on the county. They do advise parents of children who have to walk to school or ride their bikes to watch out for "periods of heavy rain," however.
I'm surprised that they can predict what is going to happen 3 days ahead. Can't things change by then? Hmmmmm....

Well I will say this...I don't think it is a random dry slot...the storms are rotating around that point, and the last few frames it has actually become more circular/better defined/warmer.

It isn't. People are tanking up today (I had the husband do that yesterday) and people are getting supplies.

I'm in Coral Springs, a northern suburb of FLL.

Talked with my sister down in Ft Lauderdale......not a concern in the world. "Just gonna get a little wind, they say its gonna hit way down in the Keys....." Hope this is not the prevelant attitude in south FLA......MGC

I don't know about NNW but I would agree that for the a first this system is following the forcast points but I think that may well be due in part to the GIV flights yesterday and today.
