You're not making anything worse, the GFS would be flooding we haven't seen before and I can see this as a possibility if it starts to get picked up but the ridge sends it west back to the gulf, what a mess

Not sure? But at the non-operational level (about 7,000 feet), the winds are as high as 77 knots at flight level! The SFMR is much lower though, suggesting near the coast there are very high winds aloft.

Funny, at the time this post was made, I was at my gate at the Tallahassee airport, which looks out over the Apalachicola, wondering if I was really going to be flying out today or not.

When 2011 ended, I was impressed that many areas in the Panhandle had a rainfall deficit of 20-30" for the year. That some places are making that up in 12-24 hours boggles my mind Image

Been following a round blob from Yucatan - - now getting close to hitting somewhere between Ft Meyers and Sarasota. Getting little bigger -and looks intense -holding together. Heading for "Charley" territory

Gusts now 40-60. Coming right at me? Oh my
