I am sure thankful for the answers to my questions in here as I normally just spot for skywarn here in the lower RGV. But I am trying to learn in here more about the tracking and such so I can have a better fix when I am out in the field.

It's hard to get a hurricane without a central core or any deep convection over water. It's struggling right now in a harsh environment.

What about Earl in 1998? That was a weird storm.

I might be totaly off but after looking at the sat it seems as if Deddy is trying to get it's act together. I do not know if it will become a hurricane or not but IMO it could be a strong tropical storm by landfall. But this is if I am seeing this right.

The VDM had 991 but the winds were not calm at that point.

Debby reminds me a bit of Lee from last year, big sprawling outer band, clear centre and low pressure in relation to winds.

I am really hoping this rain lets up, 3 days straight.. This last band that is coming through just made my lights flicker, never hear my weather band radio go off so much in 24 hours in 8 years. I am not a fan of the wind.. and its too high for me at 40mph gusts.. steady at 30mph..

How common is it that the wind area and rain area are not co-located with each other? For example, one area gets really strong winds from a tropical storm or hurricane but not much rain?
