Mentioning former Secretary of State Madeline Albright as a "primary source" about Al Qaida/Osama bin Laden has to be a joke!
When she was called before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, and asked about Osama bin Laden, she waited for four days, and then presented the committee with...a folder with four pages of newspaper stories!!!
Can I hear a "DUH" from y'all? :o

Yes.. while the problems of this country being blind to terrorism go much deeper and earlier then Clinton..I meanl lets face it until it happened not all that much attention or funding was given to combating terror. Though I feel the Clinton years where key years and the ball was really dropped. Al Queda was growing, getting bolder and made no bones that the United States was a target. Intelligence and commisons showed it was just a matter of time before A terror attack happened here but it seems just token responses where given to the growing threat until the threat came up and bit us in the behind!!

Actually there could be finger pointing until the cows come home but Clinton began many projects and developed many groups still in use today to battle terrorism. But the fact is people don't talk about that. They'd rather talk about all of his mistakes instead of focusing on the positive programs that were started by his direction. No pres is all totally negative or totally without blemish, but they've all had accomplishments, many of which have continued with success.

Well since you brought this up... please name some of these projects. And when did he have time?

Bah! Clinton didn't do that, he was lucky. During his tenure the computer industry took off with huge increases in productivity. We seemed to be at peace, with all the things he swept under the carpet. It was an era of "good feeling." Good thing he was distracted or else he would have messed it up.

No matter WHO is in office, there will always be finger pointing that the "other side" were the ones at fault. Neither side will take the high road and say "we have problems, they were caused by years of decisions made by BOTH SIDES, good and bad, let's solve them together.
Neither side, IMHO, has the guts, or inclination to want to solve problems. They just want to make sure that they get re-elected.

Stephanie.. you bring up great points. The problems of Terrorism is not soley Bill Clintons. This country has never really had terrorism high on its watch list until 9/11 . During the 90's when terrorists were getting bolder litttle was done to stop terror besides token measures. The 93 WTC bombing, the embassy bombings in Kenya, the Cole bombing. the year 2000 attempts at terror The threat was growing but the effort to go the full nine was never taken. The problem of 9/11 and terror was not just Bill Clintons fault. I feel though under his watch he had a chance to stop the fire from spreading and the ball was dropped .JMO:):):)

It's another example how the political sides try to "reap the benefits" of what a prior administration did. I'm sure that the current state of the economy, unemployment, etc. is due to the Clinton administration. They don't have anything of substance now, so they need to go back in time and take credit for something that they fought tooth and nail against - i.e. tax and spend, etc.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
It was a time of good feelings (in the Oval Office),
It was a time of bad feelings (in the West Wing bedroom).
There was a President with a loose zipper in the White House,
There was a President-in-waiting with a mean streak
And a red dress in the White House, too.
There was a strong economy in Silicon Valley,
There was a payoff to the Chinese in a Buddhist temple.
Books were cooked, terror overlooked,
There was a Rose (law firm),
And more Flowers (Gennifer).
Bill played his sax,
And a har-Monica, too.
And all was well with the world
If one didn't inquire too closely.
