Is this normal about winds: Surface winds here probably sustained about 15 mph. On my 10th floor balcony, visually I estimate it about 30 mph.

The first heavy showers have passed through the past two hours. Looking at the radar a large band of heavy rain is quickly approaching from the SW, should be here in the next half hour or so. Winds have been calm so far only, around 10 mph.

Raining here at Fort Drum, started about 45 minutes ago. Winds are supposed to be sustained 25 to 35 mph today.

Really getting it now in this heavy band, blinding rain and a couple gusts to 25 mph. Wow, it picked up really fast when this started coming through.

Some lightning with this band. We don't usually see much of that with TC systems up here.

Conditions here have deteriorated since awaking at 6:30AM.....relatively quiet at that hour, but winds and rain have picked up immensely since then. Some serious squalls coming through this area and tree limbs are airborne as we can see from here.

Power went out at 8:30AM this morning.......but we and the dogs have all the comforts of home with hubby's so every so necessary boy toy of a gennie.

(Pup wimpering a lot.....poor thing. ...think storm doing a number on her ears......)

Goodbye Irene from Gloucester County, NJ!

Nothing too unusual to report around my area or in Southern NJ as a whole. The regular places that flood have flooded. There are trees down, branches, electric is out in older neighborhoods. The wind is now whipping around from the west at 28 mph with 43 mph gusts per the NWS. The hairiest time was last night from about 9:00 pm onward with multiple tornado warnings and two actual sightings of a tornado down in Vineland and Pennsville, NJ. That was a part of the same cell which moved to my southwest. Heard a "BANG" sometime around 2:00 am, still don't know what that was from. My area had about 7 inches of rain.

When I got up at around 7:30 I was expecting the worst of Irene, but she had already moved on to northern NJ and NYC by then.

We were VERY LUCKY considering she made landfall around Cape May, NJ as a hurricane and then once again in NYC. Looks like more inland areas in PA and NY are seeing the worst of the rainfall because she was further west.

Its' been heavy to blinding rain here for the past hour. We are in a nasty band, and the worst is predicted for tonight.

Outer band about 25-30 miles from here. Winds continue to increase, at times as high as 45 mph or so in occasional gusts. It seems to come and go.

Yes I did. No one else did though! No one saw this coming. Major freeway here closed due to trees down.

Wind gusts on balcony probably about 50 mph right now.

No one here expected anything! A major highway here is closed due to fallen trees.

I have power. Not likely to lose it I don't think unless a major blackout occurs here since I am underground on an isolated grid. It is coming and going - we get 40-50 for 10 minutes, then 15-25, and so on and so on.

Nothing to report from Mt. Holly, relatively uneventful. Think we go really lucky for some odd reason. bout 6 inches of rain, power is out still though. My work is flooded up in Hightstown. Report of a tornado in Pemperton.

Winds 15 gusting to 25 mph right now, highest winds yet, the heavy rain from the past four hours seems to have ended for now.

I'm several miles (about three to four) up a little river on the NE shore of passamaquoddy Bay. The river is already as high as it usually gets after a heavy rain storm. The river runs gets behind my house, where I have a small dock and my boat tied up. Not sure how much rain fell the past four hours, have to check later. The river usually rises a few feet with the high tide, so I'll be watching out for the surger after mid-night.
