Hi kingfut!

They're saying that we will be in a Category 1 storm which have sustained winds of 75 mph+. If you are concerned about that bay window, board it up. It certainly won't hurt anything.

THANK YOU KBBOCA! :D

That is a great link. I didn't know that my county of Gloucester was under a county wide state of emergency.

At what level of winds should I bring in outdoor furniture from my 10th floor balcony? Forecast is gusts to about 45 here, some models have higher and some lower.

I would take the furniture in. It can be dangerous for people below. Anything over 20 mph.

I just found out I have a friend who is not evacuating from Cape May; he says the 2010 surge map shows his house won't be affected by surge until a Cat 3/4. He's got his wife & two young daughters there, too. I just got off work and am catching up on current Irene info & the impact so far in the Outer Banks. Anybody with a quick link to current info for Cape May?

I have a friend, just north in Ocean City.
He suggested this link to a webcam in Margate.

Here is what it looks like out my balcony now. Rain and wind 18 to 24 hours away. (I know it is upside down, had to flip my iPhone)

(Seems weird for me to be posting in a hurricane prep thread, this has to be a first for me!)

Sorry about that...I tried to flip it but couldn't!

Wind forecast is gusts about 45 mph here, I'm on the 10th floor so higher here?

It's all good! And yes, winds higher up will be higher. Read the second paragraph of the NHC Discussion for details on that.

Steady rain, fairly heavy most of the time. Wind picking up. Our worst part of the storm will be between 4 - 8:00 am tomorrow. I'd rather have the sun up while something like this is going on.
