Whoa that CG was close! Strong thunderstorms are moving thru my county right now so if I dissappear I had to go to work locally. Trying to finish this mission first.

The 12z point for the NHC is 25.5N andf 76.5W

Distance between

N Latitude 25 30 0.00, W Longitude 76 30 0.00 (Point 1)

and N Latitude 24 3 0.00, W Longitude 75 49 0.00 (Point 2)

174.846 kilometers; 108.644 miles
Azimuth from point 2 to point 1 = 336.98°

It has to move NNW from here to hit that point...will it...

ok, have a question, in the vortex message the coordinates are this -

.
Center Fix Coordinates: 24°03'N 75°49'W (24.05N 75.8167W)
so which is the actual when looking at a map? The 75.49 or the 75.8167?
I appreciate any explanation you can give me! :cheesy:

from the amazing folks in the recon thread..

looks like it will miss that point to the west...and if you notice, this is where the NHC expects the turn to happen, between this point coming up and the next...now we really start wobble watching and looking for the turn

It doesn't say 75.49W  It's 75 degrees and 49 arc minutes. There's 60 arc minutes in a full degree, so its 75 and 49/60 degrees. 49/60 is 0.8167.

cantore in rhode island? ask gulfport how that theory held up

I have been in the eyes of several hurricanes with Jim. Georges and Fran come to mind right now. I have a short video of a stand-up we did during Hurricane Dennis in Wrightsville Beach in 1999. It is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TriaDbNDsmw

Just posted my memory of that storm on that video page. :)

If you want to have a heart attack go to the AVN Irene Floater on the NOAA site. They screwed-up the trop points and have Irene missing Florida by like 30 miles.

M. C32

Recon no longer reporting cocentric eyewalls. I only noticed a very small fraction of the inner eyewall on the last pass but it was minute and likely gone now. We should wakeup to a big 30 mile wide eye and it should be perfectly clear tomorrow afternoon.

:cheesy:

It doesn't say 75.49W  It's 75 degrees and 49 arc minutes. There's 60 arc minutes in a full degree, so its 75 and 49/60 degrees. 49/60 is 0.8167.

lol, I have asked this before, haven't I? It's late, what can I say? Thank you AGAIN!
