There is absolutely no noise from any bird where im at here in S. FL. could it mean they sense some bad weather is or might be coming?

A simple question. I am always a bit confused about the wind direction and storm location. Irene is probably as close to Anguilla as it will get. Since it is south and a bit west of us what will be the dominate wind direction. So far it seems to be from the N and E.

Think of a big plate spinning counterclockwise. That's the direction of the winds in relation to where you are. Hope that's helpful...

They usually sense bad wx coming, I remember very clearly 2-3 days before Katrina hit N.O. that there were barely any birds and the few that I saw were flying very fast, like getting the heck out of dodge.

If it skirts the north coast of Hispaniola, it will be on the edge of the NHC cone. If it's on the edge tomorrow I would think it would be on the edge next week - 150 miles east of FL.

It's been quiet all this morning as well here around my house. Kind of weird, because before sun down, the birds were quite noisy. Who knows!

IMO, as little as a 60 mile shift N in the track will keep Irene skirting N coast of Hispaniola and increase intensity forecast.
