On a side note, I flew up to Philadelphia yesterday. Everything here is so green, it's like another planet compared to Texas.

Heck, I was shocked how green Dallas was when I drove up last weekend!

Dallas is trying to extend its' streak of days below 100° to two in a row! We'll see if we can make that happen - it's 97 as of 3pm.

Yeah, I drove from Dallas to Austin earlier in the week after spending the summer up there. Dallas is bad, Austin is downright scary. It's starting to look like San Angelo.

We wound up getting .4" or so - way more than I've seen here for months.

With you getting rocks and then whiffing on the football(GFS) in winter, you should change your account name to Charlie Brownastorm. :cheesy:

Aww.. I checked the radar as it was raining and we had a raincloud right on top of us (obviously) My friends who live abt 3 miles away (crow flying) didn't get a drop either. We were just lucky. The fire ants are happy too.

From this afternoon's forecast discussion out of New Braunfels (NWSFO AUS/SAT):

THE 12Z MEDIUM RANGE MODEL SOLUTION OFFER A GLIMMER OF HOPE FOR
RAIN AND SLIGHTLY LOWER TEMPERATURES LOOKING TOWARD THE MIDDLE OF
NEXT WEEK WITH THE UPPER HIGH SHIFTING FURTHER WEST AND OUR AREA
POSITIONED ON THE FAR EASTERN PERIPHERY OF THE RIDGE.

... hey, I'll take whatever hope I can get at this point!

It's a start! Besides, you know what they say about "beggars can't be choosers."

Here's Larry Cosgrove's take for the weather turning cooler and more wet after Labor Day. I hope he's right.

BTW, we had a nasty wildfire yesterday in the Austin metro area (Leander). Fifteen homes were destroyed and another 60 homes were evacuated.

Tell you the truth, given the kind of vegetation we have here and how dry it is, I'm surprised we haven't seen more of this kind of thing in our area. Nevertheless, I'm not complaining!

^^

I've been worried about fires for a while now. Brush is tinder dry, trees are drying out and dropping leaves, yards are totally yellow and crunchy and fences are dry too. We live about 500 feet from a small creek that's pretty much dried out. All the veg surrounding the creek is dry and neighbors have been seeing men hanging out back there in the creek area now that the neighboring subdivision has cleared some brush to build a pool.

Police have been called but they keep coming back. I don't think they're homeless, I think they think they found a good spot to hang out at dusk into night to drink and maybe smoke some weed.
