That gust front is knocking down the front gate of DFW airport right now. Love Field might hit 100 (97 now) but the records are kept at KDFW... at any rate, KDAL had a few upper 90s highs while KDFW kept the streak alive.

15 degrees cooler AND 20mph+ north winds behind the gust front.

If only it would stay like this. Just went outside here in Richardson, near Bush/Jupiter and my car temp shows 91 right after that gust front came through. No doubt, I'm getting on the bike when I get home. Of course, I won't mind if some rain derails those plans.

At least there is some good T-storm action going out in west Texas tonight. Hopefully a sign of things to come? Eh, probably wishful thinking. Sucks the record bid for Dallas had to come up short. Even worse to go through a summer like this and not have a record to remember it by.

Looks like an MCS could swing through northern regions of Texas tomorrow evening so those who didn't get much today still has another shot, sadly nothing much for the southern half of the state. Even though the subtropical high will restrengthen lets hope the worst of it is over...

I'd actually been rooting for the streak to end short of 42 days because while it's been hot, this summer hasn't been as hot as 1980. 1980 had 5 110+ days, 2011 has had 1. As for 105+ days, 1980 had 28 and I believe 2011 has had 11 thus far. This season has earned its' title as the second hottest summer in DFW history for sure, and there's nothing shameful in that. 1980 was just that bad. The 69 days total is still within reach, (we've got 47) but if we began a new streak Friday we'd tie that record September 2nd at the earliest. I think it's doubtful we reach it... 1998's second place 56 days could be in jeopardy though.

As for you folks down south of here, you're in my prayers. I'm sorry, I feel like I've rubbed your faces in our miracle cooldown today. This is the worst summer in history for y'all and it's not over. The silver lining is, these gust fronts and thunderstorm complexes keep on getting closer and closer. If we keep chipping away at the edges of this drought dome, eventually the dam will pop.

I read the posts here and feel soo bad for y'all and I knew some are suffering beyond the norm ie the farmers/ranchers and the wildlife. I'm happy for the folks in Del Rio. While most of us have drought approaching indescribable misery, I think Del Rio may have actually been worse than us.

As you know Shoshana we received nada here in Austin. It looks like rain and that's about it.
