We all know what Japan is going thru as they are in the aftermath of that very strong quake and huge tsunami in the northern part. But now they have to deal with another force of mother nature,an active volcano located in Southern Japan. Hopefully, this volcano goes to rest and not make a huge eruption. Let's see what happens in the comming days and weeks with it.

Mama nature is just letting it all loose isn't she? If it grows to be another huge event Japan is going to well be in deep.

Don't give Mount Fuji or Sakurajima any ideas.

No news here. Or should I say no new news.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinmoedake
It's been popping off for the last several months. In fact, it makes me wonder if this might not have been a pre-cursor to the Quake.
Eruptions from Shinmoedake were recorded in 1716, 1717, 1771, 1822, 1959, 1991, 2008, 2009, and 2011.
The 2011 eruptions began on 19 January. On 26 January, at 7:30 AM, increased eruption activity spewed ash over the surrounding area. The ash closed four railroad lines, and some airline service was cancelled due to heavy smoke. It was the largest eruption from Shinmoedake since 1959.[3] On 27 January, the volcano alert level was raised to 3.[1]
On 1 February, an even larger eruption sent smoke up to 2.5 km in the air and threw volcanic bombs up to 1.5 km.

Event: Volcano Eruption
Location: Japan Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyüshü Minamidake Crater, Sakurajima Volcano
Situation:
Japan’s Meteorological Agency, Tokyo Volcanic Ash Advisory Center issued an ash warning for Sakurajima Volcano which is considered ‘very dangerous’. Sakurajima (also spelled Sakurashima or Sakura-jima in Japanese) volcano in southern Kyushu is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, and one of the few that are at present in constant (persistant) activity. Its ongoing typical activity range from strong strombolian to large ash explosions every 4-24 hours. The volcano is located across Kagoshima Bay only 8 km east of the city of Kagoshima with a population of half a million. Sakurajima’s eruptive history has been recorded since the 8th century. It has frequently deposited ash on Kagoshima, and due to its explosive potential, considered a very dangerous volcano and closely monitored. The largest historical eruptions of Sakurajima took place during 1471-76 and in 1914.

Sakurajima is often called the "Vesuvius of the East".
