Suggestion for Storm2K (PLEASE READ, IMPORTANT)

#1 Postby HurricaneStriker » Thu Nov 25, 2010 12:31 pm

I have a really good suggestion for Storm2K. I want to make a "On This Day in Hurricane History" for Storm2K. Each day, someone would post something that happened on this day. It would be like a trivia or something.

So let me begin:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On This Day in Hurricane History (November 25)

November 25-Tropical Storm Delta of 2005 begins to weaken as it remains stationary.

From now until June we'll really be digging around in the Southern Hemisphere records. But, I like this idea!

I am not a meteorologist, and any posts made by me are not official forecasts or to be interpreted as being intelligent. These posts are just my opinions and are probably silly opinions.

On This Day in Tropical Cyclone History (November 26)

November 26, 1974-Typhoon Irma hits peak intensity at 130 mph and 939 mbar. Irma would go on to be the latest cyclone to hit China (Dec. 2)

I think this is a great idea as well, but you can be creative on what interesting facts you can find. It doesn't all have to be south hemisphere stuff during our off season. For example, if this thread was started 2 days earlier, that day in history would have been the death of QuikSCAT. I know that happened during the season, but it goes to show that the facts don't have to be related to meteorological records themselves.

This is a good thread, but it has to turn active with those historic moments to have a continuous database of past events. Here is a belated event.

Febuary 3= Earliest Tropical Storm ever recorded hits Florida in 1952.

We usually start threads on the anniversaries of historic storms but I like the idea, bring light upon lesser known but significant events.
