No Memory

#2 Postby wxman57 » Fri Aug 22, 2003 6:33 pm

Tropical weather systems have no memory. TD 9's past has no bearing on its future. If we saw such a strong disturbance in the northern Caribbean that had no history of development, we'd be saying "watch out!!" It's just a matter of time. But at least now I can take tomorrow off of work (partly).

I was just pointing out that the GFS model showed that our strong disturbance would not just dissipate and just fade away:):) Anyways, I am sure your getting the sense you better enjoy any day off you can get because they may be few and far beween soon huh??:):)

Thanks

Thanks, I'll hopefully enjoy a day off tomorrow. Not too sure about Sunday, though. But, technically, I work 7 days a week during tropical season (and most of the year). No way anyone could do that and not love his/her job, though. I spring out of bed every morning at 5am and am checking the weather within 30 seconds.

Wx Nut

#8 Postby wxman57 » Fri Aug 22, 2003 8:35 pm

I just get paid to be a weather nut. Who could ask for a better job? How come some of you didn't/don't become a meteorologist?

No desire to take 4 years of more schooling...*LOL*
Actually, I was discouraged by the payscale somewhat b/c most starting mets make a lot less than what I draw in at the Post Office ... but more so, when the mets had to be in the office when severe weather was going on, my desires really wanted me to be out chasing it ...

Wxman, I would love to be a meteorologist, specially behind the scenes. But I don't feel comfortable in social situations (I have a social disorder, actually what is called a pervasive personality disorder called Asperger's Syndrome. There is an entire thread on the topic in the Off Topic forum.

Some with it get a degree and get a job, others with it like myself do not.

I didn't grow into my Addiction till I got older and had established myself in another career which I did enjoy. Now that has soured and I am considering becoming a MET but I have to figure out how to support my family while I am in school full time. Another factor is the fact that if I started this year I would be at least 56 when I got out of school.

BTW, Happy birthday Wxman!!! August birthdays are the best!
