Stopping in for a rest on the porch. We started school yesterday, and so far the enthusiasm is high! Thanks again to all for the recipes for Chloe's book. (((HUGS))).
Just reading up on whats going on with you Bill, please accept my humble prayers and well wishes.
Dennis, stay safe! I'm sure the adrenaline is running high! God Bless.

Dennis what do ya mean feels almost like fall? That's winter temps in Houston!!! :o
Pojo! Welcome back! What is a vacation??
I think I'll stick to one of the solid wood swings with STRONG chains to hold it until I lose a lot more of this weight. Man of Man the hammock sounds wonderful though!!!
Gotta scoot. Later all!!

Hehehe David. If the hammock is strong enough to hold me then it should be able to hold you!
Look... I am such a freak of nature that I am causing people to come by just to see if I am really "in" the hammock.
J/k!
I hope this heat calms down soon. The 100º+ days are really starting to get annoying. If I wanted heat I would move to the desert.
It kind of looks like one here come to think of it...

Yesterday was one of our cooler days of the summer. High of 89 late in the day after a morning thunderstorm and .62" of rain...the heaviest calendar day rainfall since February!
A hammock would work on a day like that, but on most summer days in the desert, you can't buy a nice breeze to keep you cool.
Our family's on a bit of a good luck streak.
Jarrod, my youngest, has been called in for a second interview with Fed Ex. Not only that, but he met a new girl who works for ESPN (and he loves sports!). She got him tickets for the D-Backs/Cubs game this weekend in Phoenix.
Kathy and I went to a youth presentation of Titanic last weekend and came home with a raffle prize...3 day trip to Aspen CO! Don't know details, but we are quickly becoming supporters of the Valley Youth Theatre here...for obvious reasons.
Best luck of all? Got in line last night at a local ARCO station to fill up the Sebring, and although the wait was an hour and twenty minutes...I was home by 11:30 with a full tank of gas! Felt like I won the lotto!!!!! $1.99 a gallon felt like a bargain!
So...I do feel very blessed these days...always humbled by the challenges that others face and the unpredictable events of the world.
Rest assured my most meaningful days include helping someone else who is in need. Lean this way anytime.

Garrett, I haven't forgotten about the books!! In fact I found another box of them the other day while trying to make headway in organizing the 4th bedroom where the comps are.
Looks like the tropics could get interesting in a few days, so everyone keep a watch on the tropics forum too! We're watching two systems to see if they develop further.
Meanwhile here at the W Houston VB abode all is as well as can be. Sure would like to have a job, but there isn't much out there in my field. I am going to the School district to sign up to be a substitute teacher. Its' better than sitting at home(working at home on honeydo's)and I might luck into a long term sub position if some ot the prinicipals I know see my name.
Well need to get ready to leave for a small trial about the accident I had a month or so ago-totally her fault, no insurance, etc.(the norm for most of Houston unfortunately) I'm sure she thinks we won't show and it will be dismissed. Surprise, surprise!!!
Later everyone!!

Evening everyone!
Haven't been around for a day or so......mainly, like Steve said, we've been getting RAIN!!! I couldn't get online after my post yesteday morning because we had boomers ALL DAY long! First time in a LOOOOOOONG time!
Well....I hate to report this with so much going on......seems like everyone is in need of prayers etc, etc. BUT........it seems like I've had a SEVERE relapse of the P-moanya again, I spent almost all day yesterday in bed (nice day for it too...all the rain and thunder) and most of today once again. It's so bad that I could care less if the sun comes up or not......no, it's not depression, it's that dang phneumonia, I have no desire to do ANYTHING let alone work or sit at this computer......so if y'all would, whisper another prayer for me would ya....I really need it!
ANYWAYS......enough of that dribble!! Steve......the gas situation has now HIT the mountain, seems all available tankers are headed your way causing shortages AND panic for us up here!!! DON'T get me started on this gas situation, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO pissed (edit "LOL") over this whole BS!!!!
I need to git......howdy to everyone I missed, I'll try to be back tomorrow.....no promises, my sawbones is outta town for another week! As Steve said, the world seems to be full of challanges these days!

Howdy everyone. Sorry to hear about the gas situation Dennis and that you are not feeling well. Lots of T.L.C. will go a long ways towards recovery.
David, don't worry about the book situation. When you get them will work. The library is still in the finding a contractor phase of Tuesday.
Monday is the big day for me. My class load is heavier this semester (although probably nowhere near as heavy as Shannon's) with 15 hours.
I will be in class from 9-1 on M/W, 8-2:30 on T/Th, and 10-11 on Fri.
Fun, fun, fun!

Hello, it's hotter than a brick oven here in Louisiana....I sure miss the seabreezes of my past!
Well, hopefully with school back in swing, some of the oldtimers will have time to pop in more often. I'm loving school being in, finding myself online daily now, gathering school materials...and popping in to say hello on these boards as well!
We never did a long camping trip this summer, (things were a zoo), so we're hoping to take a week, drive into the mountains, and just veg. and get one with nature again, in the next few weeks. Thats some of my favorite family time together, when its just the kids, Brian and I, and the awesome treats of nature!
Hope the impending weekend brings better health, happiness and prosperity to my friends here at Storm2k.

Dennis...so sorry to hear about your aunt. Lost my last uncle on my mom's side back in the spring. 10 in their family are now gone.
Not only is it sad to watch a once vibrant family first slow down, then pass on, but it reminds us of our own place in the grand scheme of things.
Take care Dennis.

Morning,
Isn't that the truth Steve......it truly makes me sit up and think just how quick my life is passing by. It makes me stop and think of all the people that I've lost touch with.
Man....did we ever have a storm late last night, I haven't checked the rain gauge this morning, I'm sure it's close to an inch or so.......some awesome lightning strikes, one in particular, I haven't looked yet but I know it struck our neighbors tree, the strike and thunder were ONE....no time between.
Not much else going on.......Thank You for your concern....yes, Aunt Rita was a very special, dear woman to me, I just can't believe the Good Lord took her home but the way she was suffering, it was best.

Hello to all you porchers! Hope everyone is having a great Friday.
I had some oral surgery on Wed, and as a kind nurse handed me the remote to a little TV in the corner (as if I could hear anything over the sound of "RRRRRrrrrrRRRRRRrrrrRRRRRrrrrRRRR"), I instinctively turned on TWC. Anyway, the dentist noticed Vivian Brown and said he's worked on her teeth before! I guess she's from Evansville, which I didn't know. In that case, I allowed him to proceed.
Except, now I have an ice pack on my jaw cuz I look like 1/2 of the Godfather, and I'm supposed to be going out tonight with my husband and two of his employees - whom I've never met. Oh well, just gotta "fuhgitabouttit!"
Hey Garrett - I thought about you this week. What's your heat index been out there? 150? 160?
Dennis - So sorry to hear about your favorite aunt. That seems to be all too common these days with our generation ... having to say goodbye to the ones who came before us and who raised us. Very sad.
Hope the P-moanya is better now.
Cool storm though!
Adios wx amigos!!!

A nice morning thundershower here in Phoenix. Another quarter inch of liquid is appreciated on a Saturday morning.
Slows down outdoor activity for a while, but cleans up a lot of dust...for sure.
Not much going on this weekend....except FINISH the kitchen artwork by end of the day Sunday. Four weekends in the making...it's time to put the brushes away!
Enjoy yourselves everyone....and be safe.

Good Morning,
A little late in posting this morning, I was sitting on the *true* front porch, sipping my coffee, watching Ma Nature in all her glory, my little hummingbird friends fighting like CRAZY.
There's more signs of autumn in the air up here at 7000' these days, the autumn Asters (wild) are in FULL bloom, the hummers numbers are declining ever so slightly with each passing day, a *hint* of yellow in my Aspen trees, even the trees up high are starting to show color AND the elk are in full rut.......nothing else on earth can compare to Bull Elk bugling, sends chills down your spine. We were sitting outside last night listening to them bugle from afar.
Today is my aunts funeral, wish I could have made it but with such sort notice, there was no way we could have made that 16 hour drive.
Steve, I would much rather take a beating with a BIG STICK than paint, MAN I "HATE" painting. Best of luck on your artwork!
That's about it this morning, OH....speaking of rain, we had another BIG boomer blow thru here about 0230, the BIG, FIERCE guard dogs let us know, Sweetz jumped on the bed between us hiding her head from the lightning.......so much for a TOUGH guard dog "LOL!"
