Yeah I knew it was a little too warm, but I figured in the past where its a system with temps that close to freezing and rainy its usually hard to pin down this far out.

Here's a glimmer of hope! GFS/Euro shows a good pacific with the low shifting to the Aleutian Islands after Christmas! Give credit to srain, stormy pattern is coming up and the MJO is going to be in our favor. Also we're heading into early January which typically is our coldest period. Put 1+1 together and finally some happiness!

I think I am giving up on my chances for a White Christmas. It would have been so neat to see it two years in a row (for the first time since records were kept here). Oh well... maybe I will still get surprised.

I guess a cold rain is better than nothing. Never thought I would say that. The chill should put people in the Christmas spirit. No blizzard this year but hey! If we get a hot air balloon and go waaaaaaay up tomorrow, could see some snow!

I know it's at least a week out.

I know it's at least a week out.

I know it's at least a week out.

But those models sure have been harping on this for a while now and the timeframe hasn't been pushed back. Consistency = legitimacy?

I know, it's at least a week out!

6z is somewhat similar (not that I like bothering with that run). GFS has shown this powerhouse system on a good basis, just swings it differently. Will it go north or dig south to give us a white new years?!

Side note: I want to wish everyone on this forum, especially my fellow southern plainers/Texans on this thread, a Merry Christmas. You guys are great and hopefully more to come in the New Year!

Lots of colors on radar this Christmas Eve:

It is a beast on the GFS though... WOW! No matter where you live, you are bound to be impacted in some form of sensible weather if the GFS comes to fruition (insert... I know, I know. A week away!)

BTW... just a couple of icy patches on my deck overnight. Temp here stayed at 32 for the duration. No accumulation... hoping for some flurries later this afternoon.

Ntxw... Merry Christmas to you, too! :)

It's great to see the rain/elevated storms on the radar scopes this morning. I had wondered if they even worked anymore! :P Merry Christmas folks. Enjoy the pattern change and we'll get a bit more in depth regarding next week later in the weekend with what may well be ahead.

It is snowing in Gainesville and Denton according to the NWS? Radar says yes also.

GAINESVILLE LGT SNOW 37 36 93 NE7 30.22S WCI 32

DENTON LGT SNOW 37 37 100 NE7 30.20S FOG WCI 32

You can see the isolated blobs of blue and pink over the two locations.

It doesn't mean anything I don't think. Just means Gainesville was one of those lucky cold pockets.

Wouldn't be surprised if they're getting some sleet. As Ntxw said, they're under the cold-core low and the air profile is probably cold enough vertically to support some frozen precip.

Its raining good in carrollton now, with the temp at 38. Is there any possible way that the heavy rain could cool the air off even more where the temps could drop some more?
