That looks pretty cool, especially off the African coast...

how accurate is their modeling historically? does anyone know?

Cool model map, Alicia! :) I've never seen that one before so I wouldn't know the history of that model. ;)

NOAA Wave Watch III is the source model for that graphic. Its one of the primary swell forecasting models. Here is the 144 hour (August 27) output for that model. Notice from the wave heights that NOAA WW3 has the system currently exiting Africa NE of PR by then producing a solid area of 12-15+ foot waves.
