Will be interesting to see whether it undergoes the transition thats expected of it by the NHC, the NHC certainly think if it does occur a hurricane is more then do able.

Well its not over yet for the BVI....our government put us under a State of Emergency today, the damage is insane..its estimated the damage has been worse then Hurricane Earl and the locally infamous 2003 november floods together. We have had 16 +inches of rain in the last 24 hours and more is to come tomorrow so we are still under Flash flood warning. There are landslides from the top of 600FT hills all the way down to the coastlines. Streets are under 3-5ft of water in some places and some people are displaced fro their homes. Still hoping for th best.

Here in Puerto Rico,we have been lucky as that big tail has not moved to the island, although we have recieved between 2-4 inches since last Saturday. We have a thread for the members who live in the Caribbean and Central America region, where you can visit and post observations, photos, etc from where you are. viewtopic.php?f=24&t=85676&hilit=&p=2081506#p2081506

A subtropical storm of CAT 1 intensity is a hurricane.

Still looks subtropical in nature, convection is trying to wrap round, sure has quite a unusual look to it, sort of like Andrea but more convection.

It would be called Subtropical Storm Otto, though, regardless of wind speeds above hurricane force. It would not be called Subtropical Hurricane Otto, it would still be Subtropical Storm Otto. And it wouldn't be Hurricane Otto unless it was tropical.
