NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
530 AM EDT TUE AUG 18 2003

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

A WESTWARD-MOVING TROPICAL WAVE IS LOCATED ABOUT 800 MILES EAST OF THE LESSER ANTILLES...AND SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS EXTEND A FEW HUNDRED MILES TO THE WEST OF THIS WAVE. CONDITIONS APPEAR TO BE FAVORABLE FOR SOME DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
WEDNESDAY.
