It looks like they might get 48 hours (or more) of tropical storm force winds and higher...that is a scary thought!

50.5 knots winds at this buoy as Igor approaches it:

Strongest 1-min sustained winds were 55.6 knots thus far. Highest wave heights were 38.7.

Igor had a central pressure of 939 mb and 110 mph winds. That is like Ike because of their massive size.

yup he wants to be just like ike.

seas are most impressive with this storm sort of like ike....ike brought storm surge to the entire gulf of mexico....that was an eye opener.

I will be awaiting Igor's swell's at the ocean on monday w camera

That map of Ike is incorrect I believe, as hurricane force winds (sustained) did not make it west of downtown Houston and didn't make it east of the TX/LA Border. Even still that is a large area of coastline to receive hurricane conditions.

i think alot of times the hurricane force winds "extend outward" is more like the "furthest POSSible sustained hurricane winds " ....extend up to xyz miles.

I remember hurricane wilma in S. FL raked far south florida up thru fort pierce a very wide swath was cut with hurricane force winds...just a beast moving thru.
