92L appears to have no future; Igor is likely to suffer some more; the wave following Igor may be drawn rapidly northwestward and then northward by an upper trough. This is dull as dirt.

it is a bit boring at the moment. DWS, i do admire your tenacity. if we had a contest for bearish member of the month you would have my vote! i think igor will become a major hurricane down the road although it remains to be seen if that one threatens anyone. as for 92L i agree that it may be pulling a gaston but we'll just have to wait and see.

Wait a second. Today, September 10th marks the climatological peak of the hurricane season and all we have to show for it it just 1 tropical storm.....Igor? That's it? The pre-season forecast for a hyper active season will bust for sure!

What is the opposite of prophetic?

So Karl is going to bury itself in Mexico; Igor is weaker than a number of storms from the past decade; Julia is taking a beating from both Igor's outflow and an upper trough. And 1998 had a period during which four named storms were active. I'm still not impressed. It's time for the only forecast that makes sense: a significant lull.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, I can't believe how lucky the US has been this year at avoiding any major landfalls...Yet, another storm going to Mexico.....
It would really be something if the US avoids anymore landfalls for the rest of the season...I think there's just as much of a chance of that happening is there is of that not happening....

not being cat 5 killers...
Here's my deal: Igor, Karl, and Julia have not hit category 5 what a lame joke dumb season.

For real. Igor and Julia stuck at cat 4 simultaneously? What, you can't make that last little stretch to cat 5? Please, what a joke. This season is obviously the worst one ever. And don't get me started on Karl, proximity to land is a weak excuse, waste of a name.Tampa Bay Hurricane wrote:I don't see why people are bashing this guy...this whole thread is filled with joke posts about storms

I am not a meteorologist, and any posts made by me are not official forecasts or to be interpreted as being intelligent. These posts are just my opinions and are probably silly opinions.
Do all of the "worst season ever" comments mean that the "best season ever" would include multiple US landfalls?
That goes under the "As long as it's not my house/town/city" way of thinking - VERY selfish...
P.S. You can be sure that every American who's lost their house this year in a forest fire, flood or tornado doesn't agree with you, or as the folks in the San Bruno gas fire would tell you, disaster is always just around the corner - don't wish for it...

Re:
psst - if you're writing an actual reply in this thread, you're taking it too seriously. Yes, people who actually wanted to cancel the season hijacked it for a bit, but I'm surprised how many people aren't catching that this is an extremely sarcastic thread; or my own sarcasm meter needs some calibration, one of the two.Frank2 wrote:Do all of the "worst season ever" comments mean that the "best season ever" would include multiple US landfalls?

Thanks for the reminder - as a pro met I believed (correctly) that you understood the hard truth, meaning that no landfall is the best kind...
Perhaps 100 years ago that might not mean as much (Florida had a population of only 528,000!), but with today's crowded coastline any landfall will affect a large number of people...
Well, my meter needs a calibration check from time to time (like every day), so that's all right, as long as the others understand that it's only meant in joking...
Thanks,
Frank
