I think the major issue would only be if you lived in a flood prone area. Otherwise, I think you should be okay. Hope you feel better... Just my $.04 worth...

Unless there's an unforeseen change in track guidance, I'd expect some good rains and some gusty winds in squalls is my opinion. Get to feeling better, but I'd keep an eye out over rest of the day today just in case something does change.

Wow, Hermine is going to track right over me - just checked the Wunderground forecast for my area and it says "Tropical Storm Hermine" for Wednesday and Thursday. We don't see that too often!

Garnet,
There should not be any need for any special preparations in Richmond. Heavy rain should be your greatest threat. Go ahead and sleep and get your rest. 8-)

There appears to be a strong curved band developing on radar which may be the early beginning s of a inner core. luckily it only has 12 hours left so we wont get a very strong hurricane. have to leave the chance of a hurricane though.

My parents spent 30 yrs in Richmond- watch for street flooding! Water is your only real problem. You shouldn't see any sustained winds, but a good gust in a thunderstorm can take down some big branches on those rotten hackberries.

Looks like it will probably make landfall south of the border but dump most of the rain in Texas. At least it isn't Hurricane Voldemort.

12Z NAM suggested landfall near Corpus, GFS suggests very near the border at hour 18.

Well actually ... Hermine had model support late last week. The NAM was the only one who showed a deep tropical cyclone like we are seeing now. Most of us, including me, kinda laughed off the NAM. No one is laughing now.

It would appear Hermine formed from a cross over of a weak monsoon system off the southern MX coast late last week which several of the global models did show...but none really drew the conclusion the system would cross over and then intensify in the SW Gulf. Different from how Bret formed in 99 (an easterly wave)

I'm not sure if I understand. Is this or is this not related to TD-11e?

I believe most of this is moisture from TD 11-E. This area didn't really get going til that crossed over into the BOC late Saturday.

Great WV view, you see how the little ULL is shooting some of the moisture northward and outflow is shaping up nicely. I agree with the hurricane before landfall thoughts of some of my fellow posters.

The center is circled in white.. beginnings of a inner core developing, could approach hurricane strength before landfall.. its also moving more nw than NNW now.. landfall should be just south of the border
