Like Fiona we may see this named quickly. Man...negative MJO? Boy when we were talking about the lid coming off....it has been a circus since Danielle formed on the 21st. Thats 8 days of straightup action....and NOW Gaston is in sight...

The MJO will return soon with the start of September, the ridge could build back when storms form and we will be looking at a wild September. I am a believer now of this season and I must say the potential the Atlantic Ocean can produce this season is nothing short of insane.

"SCATTERED MODERATE TO STRONG CONVECTION IS S OF THE
CENTER FROM 9N-12N BETWEEN 26W-29W. A GOOD AMOUNT OF SAHARAN
DUST AND DRY AIR IS N OF 13N HAMPERING CONVECTION. "

This could conceivably enable it to stay west and south enough so as to not be a recurver like all the rest of them so far. Kinda like what was seen in 2005. Does the dry air it will encounter in the next couple days kill the wave, or does it merely suppress it for a while until it can reach better conditions?

If the convection maintains it would not be out of the question for another low to form further south under it. We'll need to watch this, if it can develop south of 13N and ride west it could keep a moisture tap from the ITCZ.

I am surprised this hasn't even gotten a code yellow.

Maybe a mention at 2am seeing as it has persisted pretty well all day?
