How many named storms will form in September?

#1 Postby cycloneye » Sun Aug 29, 2010 2:08 pm

Lets see how many form in the peak month. I voted for six.

The poll will remain open after August 31 as is possible that I wont be here to close it, if power goes as Earl tracks by Puerto Rico.

I voted for 6.

I can't see it being more than that, but it may well be busy.

I went with 5, but I think it might be higher.

September:
5 named storms.
3 hurricanes.
1 major.

For 2010, I had 13/7/3. As of 8/29/10, we've had 5 named systems ... 3 hurricanes ... 2 majors (assuming Earl becomes major).

Remaining for the season, I have 8/4/1 (assuming Earl becomes a major).

With 5 in September, that leaves 2 for October (1 hurricane and 1 TS) and 1 (TS) for November.

I voted 5, I think there will be 5 tropical storms, 3 hurricanes and 2 major hurricanes. I think the first 7-10 days of September won't see any development but after that we're going to see the activity picking up again.

I say 4. 3 of them become hurricanes including one major.
