Looks like the center will cross 61W at around 17.9N. Still moving WNW, and it still appears hurricane force winds will stay north of BVI and San Juan. Close call though.

Thoughts and prayers to those in the path or too close for comfort of Hurricane Earl.

Eye looks to be contracting pretty nicely, and the pressure is dropping as well.

Almost appears to have wobbled slightly south west in that loop imo

I noticed that earlier. Hard to tell if it is a southwest wobble or if it is just the eye contracting and giving a southwest wobble appearance.

There's an island directly to the SW of the eyewall per the animation above. What island is that? Is it Barbuda?

Best wishes to all in the islands that seem to be on their way of getting something out of Earl. Hopefully, it's just a lot of rain!

Seems that the storm is on a mostly westerly component...with a jog to the WNW here and there.

Just as a point reference, the first island over 18N is St. Martin, which is slightly past 63W. At 17.7N, it already is north of Barbuda (17.6N)...although if it doesn't turn soon, it will be right in the southern eyewall.

Okay, that's the island I was looking at. It does look like it'll be real close to the eyewall.

Sorry but sometimes you have to call a spade a spade. That loop Aric posted shows a nearly due west motion for the last few hours. The turn should start soon though, it must be nervous times on these islands now.

I can't even imagine.

I agree on the motion.

Has the forward motion slowed down any?
