This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Here is the latest run from GFS and it shows the CV wave east of the islands. So those interests in the islands including in Puerto Rico must watch this one closely.

Ummm....

You might be a bit fast on the trigger

15/0Z GFS has a 1012 Low at ~ 13/47 at 144 hrs. That's not a tropical storm or a hurricane.

It does have a 1004 Low at ~ 29/64 at 384 hrs (that's Aug 30...plenty of time for the GFS to spin).

LOL about the GFS.

But seriously, the GFS has been insistent for almost 5 days now regarding some CV waves developing and fairly remains consistent in regards to develop a few. NHC issued a discussion at 2:05 pm EDT that was in favor of the Cape Verde season's door may be opening ...

I'll give the GFS credit for being consistent, forecasting some of those CV storms to rev up.

It may actually be the second wave off Africa that we need to be concerned with....much lower latitude and stronger (according to the GFS). Reason for the speculation is that the ridge will PROBABLY break down with the first one, allowing it to slip NW. THe second may catch a re-building ridge to its north and ride west. Though this wave rides slower. GFS is quick to develop this second wave though, and it will prod every nook and cranny to find a soft spot in the ridge. Just speculation. What about the wave near the Antilles. Anyone check the latest?? Cheers!!
