ATL: INVEST 96L - DISCUSSION

The problem is that the convection is over the center, not 200 miles away! (sarcasm here!)

This is a bit of change of pace. Pro met trying to get people to believe it's a TD and others not sold on it. It's refreshing :)

If you think it is, I'll take your word for it

Looks like a TD on the visible loops now, but we need recon to verify.

Tropical depression is a loose enough definition. If you told me this was TD2, I would believe it.

It really does look a mess, but it does probably meet what is needed for a tropical depression, I can certainly see the NHC upping the odds into the high risk next time round, I'd gowith 70% right now.

Bet the NHC are regretting being so hasty to cancel recon so far in advanced.

The hurricane specialists in the NHC are like the umpires in baseball. Each of them have their own strike zone!

And that's the problem with TD's...interpretation. If I was working the desk...it would be a TD....but I follow a strict definition and really don't care if it's a TD now and falls apart in 6 hours. The NHC wants to see it maintained for an arbitrary period of time (depending on the forecater).

Given the strength of the low level inflow on the west side...I bet the pressures are at least 1005 mb...if not lower...

Well thats the thing stormcenter, I think there is no doubt 95L was a TD at one point, but then again this probably is close to depression status as well, even though its not got the most impressive look.

As has been said before, this probably will have the same impacts whether it develops or not.

Well then, I am going to take my tropically pessimistic self down to Sams Boat on Clear Lake now, have a rum laden "Hurricane", and see if it changes my tune!!!!

Be back in a bit!

looks like a TD, that new cdo is nice and appears to be moving NNW ATM....this statement has not been endorsed by the NHC, nor Starfleet Academy, nor The Vulcan Academy of Science and Culture, and certainly not the Klingons!!!! :D

I just can't help but think the NHC are holding back till they up the chances to a red alert to help thier verfication rates...

That being said it could be the NHC just want to see the convection hold and get a little more organised then what it currently is...
