Lake-O is getting some more good(bad)rain! To bad it's gonna be released instead of us being able to use it to our advantage!

Dang the releases are not helping much..you can see how this could be a problem if a real slow moving tropical soaking happened in the next month. Rainy season is on and the lake is already on the rise. Sounds like the release gates are going to open even wider..

And there goes a waste of potential hydroelectric power...

The releases are so inconsistent that using the lake to provide power is impractical. If the dikes were raised by a few feet the lake could be used to provide power durring the rainy season. But, a consistent release of fresh water could cause environmental problems downstream to the Everglades restoration project. Ohhh, the irony.

It would not have to be used as a constant source of power. I didn't say to use it as a direct supply, but during releases it could certainly be used to supply power (for any buildings in the area, any pumps, etc). If that water *has* to be dumped, why waste the opportunity?

Any power source could be put in whenever they finally decide to get around to updating the dikes and levee system currently in place, and the cost could be partly covered by colleges who might want to use it for research purposes into hydroelectric power.

Here is a graph I created for everyone to be able to see the trends of Lake O over the past 30 days. Any gaps are where there was no data on here to use (I used the posts on here to determine the water levels).

Dude! That is very nice of you..being so far from the lake yourself.

Fortunately it was not a big rainy week for most of the state.. They do need to get it down. This state can get a 6 inch rain in 24 hours easy and that's not even from a tropical system. Combine a rain overhead the lake and upstream and it could get some tensions up.

Haha, you know me...I don't mind making graphics, and I was curious about how it would look! And Iraq is pretty far away, but will be back at Ft Drum soon!

Nice job with the graphics brunota! Now that you've given us a picture of the lake level so that we can actually make sense of the numbers visually, you gotta stay with me(and Hurakan)and keep it updated throughout the 2010 hurricane season ok! Yes I'm volunteering your services LOL!!!
