Same here; the MacKenzies were under command of the Laird MacLeod, just before the battle of Culloden. They were charged with bringing cattle back to feed Bonnie Prince Charlie's army, but ran into a mixed force of mounted Campbells and Cumberland's cavalry which cut them down ALMOST to the last man...and the beef went into Hanover bellies.

Re: Whats your ethnic background?
Oooh, what a cool topic!
Paternal Gfather - Romania, immigrated 1904 age 17
Paternal Gmother - born US, parents immigrated from Russia and Ukraine
Maternal Gfather - mutt (mostly Scot-Irish), one ancestor on Mayflower
Maternal Gmother - father born in Ireland, mother English/Scot
My grandfather was very interesting. He lost two sisters, a niece, great-niece (infant) to Nazi concentration camp, last seen being put aboard a train in Paris. He came to U.S. by himself and worked shining shoes, selling newspapers, and as a busboy in New York. He spoke 7 languages fluently, having been privately tutored, as his family was affluent (Romanian, French, English, Italian, Greek, German, Hebrew). Prior to WW2, communists seized his parent's property in Bucharest and housed them in a tenement where they died. After WWII, all family history in Romania was lost. The extermination of jews was so extensive, there was nobody left alive to document what happened to whom. As a girl, I can remember going to a Greek restaurant in our midwestern town and my grandfather conversing in Greek with the owner. He was then in his 80's.

Reminds me of a folk tune I used to hear the old folks rhyme off... just can't remember the whole thing...
"Oh cruel is the snow that rapes Glencoe, and covers the grave o'Donald! They came in the night while our men were asleep, we wined them and dined them, they ate of our meat. In the morning they slaughtered the house of MacDonald...."

The people from my province (Shandong) is generally taller than those from all the other coastal provinces of China. It is believed by some scholars that "Shandongers" have Phoenician parentage.
That is really interesting. I have read that Chinese people are likely to have some Tocharian mix in them as well.
