Steven Joseph Christopher, 42, was taken into custody by the Secret Service in Brookhaven, Miss., and charged with threatening to assassinate Obama for what he claimed was "the country's own good," federal prosecutors said.

If you look back on historic Presidential assassinations and attempts you will find that most indeed were the work of lone wolves.

I'm guessing that's because a lone wolf guy doesn't need to communicate with anyone, so there is literally no paper trail.
As for the guy mentioned, he is insane, he used to post on GLP, and his posts pointed to someone who's not all there.
