Possible US threat next week

While some are concerned about a mid-Atl upper low, there is likely to be a US threat next week, from Guillermo to Hawaii. The ridge isn't going anywhere anytime fast; therefore, this is going west. As long as this isnt sucked into soon to be Hilda or if the ridge doesn't become too strong, creating NE shear, this is a lead pipe sinch to threaten Hawaii late next week

to me, hawaii is part of the far pacific. i just dont get hyped over canes there. besides, years with hawaii hits = slow atlantic

The GFDL holds Guillermo strong as the area of disturbed weather to the east of Guillermo actually swings around to the NE of the circulation (Fujiwhara Effect) and absorbs the energy of Tropical Depression #8.

What about 1950 and 1959? Both years featured hurricane landfalls in Hawaii, and both were also very active in the Atlantic (major hurricanes King and Easy struck Florida in 50'; and 125 mph Gracie plowed SC in 1959). Also, 1992...the year Iniki slammed Kauai may have been slow in the Atlantic, but no one alive then will ever forget hurricane Andrew.
