Heat indices in and around the Crescent City will reach “danger” levels on Friday as high temperatures and humidity blanket the area, according to Channel Four Meteorologist John Gumm.
Gumm said the heat index would be above 105 for a good part of the day and could reach as high as 109.
“Even though the humidity levels are down a bit, the temperatures are rising which leads to the high heat index,” said Gumm.


With only a 20 percent chance of rain, Gumm is forecasting a high of 95 for Friday. The record high is 97 degrees, which was set back in 1962.

As far as the weekend goes, Gumm said to expect more of the same, with a possibility of a slight drop in temperatures on Sunday.

At the same time, I posted that Brownwood Municipal, TX had the highest temperature in the U.S. (at 109.4º) ... Lafayette Regional Airport had the highest heat index at 113º and the highest dewpoint - 82.9º
