I remember seeing Richard Heene on Wife Swap. He is quite volatile and gets angry easily.

You hit the nail right on the head there, expat - they're learning fast that reality
is not a "show"!

Maybe it will be a blessing in disguise for the kids...

The fact that it took them this long to figure it out and that they admitted they got played is nothing short of embarrassing. How you could be fooled after that CNN interview is completely beyond me.
And terrible at lying during interviews.

I heard he may face no prison time because "they want to keep space for violent offenders"
Send that father to the type of camp I have proposed here many times. Things like him desvere that harsh treatment to serve as a deterrant against others.
If one knew they would be forced to work 16 hours a day at heavy labor with beatings for not working up to standard, with little food and the food that they did eat would be spoiled and or moldy, maybe people would think twice about committing crimes

No. It doesn't matter how bizarre the parents might be it's still just wrong to take a kid from his parents unless they're actually in physical danger.
This guy needs to reimburse everybody who took part in the search from the local police to the air guard. If the charges are successfully prosecuted then my guess is they put a lien on his paychecks (including all the money I'm sure they're getting paid by the news stations for interviews) so that all he has left is enough to cover the mortgage, electricity/heating bill, and groceries, until the taxpayers have been paid back for this ridiculous wild goose chase he led us on.
He's not a danger to society or to his family, despite how differently the kids are being raised, that is within their rights as parents.

Looks like Richard Heene is no stranger with the law.

Don't hold me to this, because I saw it once. I hear that Richard is a firm believer in the 2012 "end of the world" theory and wanted some quick money to build a bunker to hide in when the time came.

That is a possibility, though I doubt it. I think he just wants attention. He has been on Wife Swap 2 times I think, and has tried setting up a reality show with TLC or someone else. Jimmy Kimmel has said that Heene once (indirectly) offered to blast a rocket with Jimmy's name on it into space for about 25k. I read somewhere that he pulled off this stunt in hoping to base a reality show off of the event.

The Reality of Idiotic Parents. I don't know what else he could have hoped for.

Father gets 90 days in jail,4 years in probation / Mother gets 20 days in jail

He also has to pay all the agencies that were mobilized that day.I think that the punishment is right and serves as a lesson for others who might think about doing other hoaxes in the future.

It should be 90 days in a Sheriff Joe jail!
Let him eat the bread that has mold growing out of all of the pores, the green bologna, the rotten fruit, and the expired milk. Also, make him work on a chain gang wearing pink underwear and sleep in a tent in the desert. Burning hot during the day, freezing cold at night. Only thing missing is the whipping for a mistake on the job or any other rules infraction

he didnt look at all genuine in his plea with the judge. Of course, its very hard to believe him or any of his actions now that he has duped so many people.
His sentence is very light considering what he has done.
Consider himself very lucky.

Good that they're going to jail, should be longer though.

Should have gotten a longer stint in the big house. I'd put him in with the gay sex offenders.....MGC

The sooner they are out, the sooner they can start to pay the fines.
