VERY HEAVY snow in Spring Branch with accumulation starting on almost all surfaces. At least 1/2" on the ground with much more to come based on radar. Pics in a while. Temp is 31f and falling.

I'm up in East Central Alabama between Birmingham and Montgomery near the Georgia line. Feeling okay about at least seeing some snow falling here but it's really borderline. For you I think it's possible to see a bit of snow for a short time but probably not accumulations.
Not enough snow to remain on the ground during the night for an early morning right before sunrise snow scene photo op? I had a professional photographer tell me years ago about how to take pictures of Christmas lights in yard displays at night, unless you were a pro and had a tripod and knew all the tricks of the trade, he advised me to take my simple 35mm pics at that time either right before sunset while there was still some light in the sky or right before sunrise and his advice worked but in this case it would be a sunrise picture taking session if I do get some snow and it sticks.

I think we're getting the shaft. NWS says we should be getting snow... currently at 34° and just light rain. No sense in trying to hide it... very disappoining. :(

Where exactly is Spring Branch? Near Katy? Anyone on this board know if it snowed in Colorado county, TX? In Columbus? Alleyton?

Shouldn't be long if it's 34.

I bet within the hour you will have snow. Remember, it was not supposed to be snowing yet, but the models were too warm. Same over here, only 46 degrees but we were supposed to be at 55.

Hoping for snow here, liking the NAM!!

We've been getting light-moderate snow for a couple of hours now. It's all melting; it's just too warm and it's not snowing nearly hard enough to drive the temps down to freezing. We would really need some convective bands to form and it looks like the window for that is quickly closing.

Yeah, looks like the dreaded dry-slot. After the back edge of the precip shield passes-by, looks like it's over.

The only chance is if there is some additional development along the trough axis as it passes through....but hoping for that is almost like grasping for straws. It just doesn't look too good after the shield passes. The good news for you is that will take longer to pass by Beaumont.

As soon as I put the pic up it all melted...LOL. It was awesome while it lasted, it looked like a heavy rain but it just bounced off of us.

Sure get excited over a little ice down here :cheesy: I hope you're not doubting the pic cycloneye?

I believe he's talking about it nearly over with in Houston. Just starting in BPT. I'm at home now. I'd estimate about 2.5" in southwest Houston. Here's a shot of my backyard orange tree last hour when the snow was heavier:
