Ah, those were the days...when the biggest problem was an OCM that didn't know Possum Trot, Alabama from Weekie Wachee, Florida.

Does anyone miss Lisa Mozer...

She never seemed to fit in as an OCM - apparently meteorology was not her primary field of study...

Anyway, another Friday evening and another horror film on TWC - in fact, TWC was "off the air", as far as weather is concerned, from 8 ET until 4:30 the following morning, so an entire work shift without anyone standing in front of the camera...

I'm sure the moral of TWC OCM's must be at an all-time low (no pun intended) considering that weather has become secondary to their company's mission (entertainment being primary)...

It's a terrible situation and not soon to improve, I'm afraid...

TWC's about to have another owner - time for Jim (Cantore) to retire, if he can, before Comcast decides that TWC's no longer needed, since having a cable company as owner is not a good thing when it comes to being a cable channel...

I don't know about that considering that the rumors say that Comcast is less interested in NBC and movie properties and more interested in the cable properties (USA, SyFi, Chiller, MSNBC, CNBC, etc). I'm not sure where TWC falls in there. I do understand your concern considering the crappy way they merged TechTV with their gaming channel G4  . Here is a link to Comcast's programming assets

I'm not crazy for Comcast myself where they've had a monopoly on the cable business in this area until Verizon FIOS came to town (which I am very happy with). Comcast's service was terrible.

I don't think that this merger will be good for the consumer because I'm not convinced that Comcast will create any significant improvements in programing, etc. As mentioned above, they are really only interested in expanding their reach into other cable avenues. I think it's more for control than for creativity. Where that leaves TWC remains to be seen.

Yes, the quality of Comcast "On Demand" programming is terrible at best...

Interestingly enough, perhaps because of the widespread snow/rain/severe weather threat yesterday, TWC did not have it's "Friday Night Movie" of the past few weeks - it's also interesting to note that apparently the movie was not preempted by the breaking weather coverage, since Comcast (again) did not list the movie on it's schedule - usually it'd be listed anyway, but would be preempted for breaking coverage, but on the programming schedule all that was indicated was the evening weather coverage, so perhaps TWC has received enough negative comments and poor ratings that they've abandoned the idea of showing "weather related" movies on Friday night, or any other night - lettuce hope so...

And I agree that this new business deal seems to leave TWC with a very uncertain future - I'm sure this latest development also leaves their staff very uneasy, and is a far cry from the days at the old TWC building, where everyone was shown standing outside singing for their company - and excited to be working there...
