Can Ida survive moving over the hilly terrain, i really don't think so. Compare with the flatness of the Yukatan.

of course I have no idea, but it seems far fetched unless Ida makes a sharp right turn.

one problem with the equation, its not supposed to move fast anytime soon

I've just noticed that, the new track has Ida again over water until saturday, 2 days over land may disrupt the cyclone completely or maybe not, TS katrina on 1999 had a very similar track and she did not dissipated although tshe spend less time over land.

In the Atlantic it's the first time as it is the replacement for Isabel.

It seems to be moving north-northwest at the moment based on the two fixes. It might just run the Cabo Gracios region, which is pretty flat.

This is the first use for it in the Atlantic basin -- it replaced Isabel.

looks like we will get one more pass to see if this is a real motion...any movement to the right makes the track overland shorter...

Well on the last pass the eyewall is now closed and came down from 30 miles to 20 miles. Could get interesting here before it makes landfall.

pre-Vortex center lloks like
214500 1203N 08243W 9246 00657 9963 +233 +216 352007 009 008 000 03

it was 1157N and 8237W then 1200N and 08238W

first and third gets you

0.1N and 0.1W

a little N of NW...

Distance between

N Latitude 11 57 0.00, W Longitude 82 37 0.00 (Point 1)

and N Latitude 12 3 0.00, W Longitude 82 42 0.00 (Point 2)

14.343 kilometers; 8.913 miles
Azimuth from point 1 to point 2 = 320.83°

NW is 315°

:uarrow: If this NNW trend continues,it may spend less time on land with all the implications that it will have by doing that..
