I understand the need for 0 tolerance when it comes to weapons, but apparently these administrators do not understand the two words "common sense". I know some will argue it has to be enforced equally across the board no matter what, but don't even get me started!!

No tolerance = No thinking
I mean, come on. I understand having to explain to him why it was wrong and why he shouldn't do it again, but the SIX YEAR OLD CHILD wasn't trying to bring a weapon. He was bringing his cool new Boy Scouts tool/utensils to use for lunch! 45 days in a reform school... give me a freaking break!

There were some teachers in Palm Beach County that followed the zero tolerance policy so well that the administators finally changed the policy. The teachers didn't like the "no-thinking" aspect so gave the county what it asked for. Those policies are just created as a reactionary tool to appease the lawyers.

I agree. Funny thing is they get sued either way. Catch-22. I think this litigious society is related to this entitlement mentality we have.

Reform school is for kids who cause trouble all the time. This kid didn't.

I wanna say something about the staff that had the kid suspended, I just don't wanna say it here. All I can tell you is that it begins with a "D" and ends with "...gs".
Thank goodness his suspension has been lifted though.
