Is it the 2006 season or 2009

#1 Postby boca » Thu Aug 27, 2009 7:13 am

So far this season reminds me of 2006 then all the systems couldn't get past 60w.The system in the east Atlantic will likely recurve too due to all the troughs or ULL's which have been in abundance this season. If it can manage to look like Danny ha ha then it might make it to the Caribbean once it makes it past 50w.

I agree. It's hard to ignore the obvious comparisons:

The future Erika (if it's that next Cape Verde disturbance) will likely feel that weakness you're talking about ... if not, it's got lots of dry air and shear to encounter on a westward track.

The big difference could come in 8-12 days as some models are showing good hints that the Bermuda high will strengthen, of course it has to be said it could be model progressiveness trying to bring in a new pattern too quickly.

The problem is, once you get into late september and more fronts begin to exit the east coast, the chance of recurve increases even more....

Based upon what we've seen so far, I don't see any indication that the season is going to get any more active after the next 2 to 3 weeks....More of a feeling than anything else....

Yeah, I had a feeling this was like 2006 but even that season had hope (Chris at the start, Ernesto, etc.) whereas this season is just plain hopeless, lol. When you have a system like Danny out there near the end of August, you know the season is in trouble  .

If Hurricane Bill is going to be the most notable hurricane of the season, it's a snoozer.
