I am in that camp too Mj.Yes,it passed just north of the 15N-50W box but until it passes the latitud of the most northern island I wont be tranquil.I cant forget Luis (not me but the hurricane) as he loved the 17N line.

I am with MJ and Luis.

Wake me up if I need to worry about it.

Judging from this steering currents map, I wouldn't be surprised to see Bill gain some longitude today as it goes by the weakness to his north:

There is a ULL to the north of Bill now that is pushing to the south. That is what is keeping Bill from truning north right now. Till he is past that it will be more west with stair steps to the north. WNW I don't see it turning till it get a little closer to the islands then stoot up from there.

The posts in this forum are NOT official forecast and should not be used as such. They are just the opinion of the poster and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. They are NOT endorsed by any professional institution or storm2k.org. For official information, please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

Folks, the model support indicating it will miss the Leewards is in such excellent agreement not sure we need to keep mentioning or hinting at any possibilities it will move much more west than where the NHC has it going, at least within the next 3-4 days or so -- and I even think that 3-5 day cone should shift more to the right over time as well. There really is no debate with the fact it will miss the Leewards to the north far enough so that all the winds and heavy rain will be far to the north. Additionally I will say those in Florida are safe and probably anywhere south of North Carolina --- very safe from Bill.

If this system can just miss Bermuda and landmasses upstream from that (a pretty decent chance but still not certain), we could have the perfect Atlantic system to track -- a major churning harmlessly in the Atlantic.

Bill is looking very good right now, still seems to be some uncertainty over the impacts this could have in Bermuda, the models still shifting either side of the island.

according to ADT pressure has dropped like a rock in the past few hrs.
991MB at 0345 utc to 955MB at 1045utc
thats 36MB in 7 hrs! i know its just an estimate but thats a hefty drop, and if that eye clears out and starts shrinking the pressure could drop alot more. i could see it getting down to the 920's. its a big storm so the winds might not be as strong as the would for a smaller system with the same pressure. very impressive, starting to look like a major with nice symetrical convection.

The ADT algorithm has a tendency to jump suddenly when an eye emerges. It doesn't mean Bill has actually strengthened almost 30 knots in 2 hours, though it's definitely on the upswing right now. Finally starting to taste those warmer waters.

Yeah very nice looking hurricane. I'd estimate the eye diamater to be around 40 nm, pretty large eye.

The 12z BAM models have changed a bit and now show a very sharp right turn near the end of the period, I wonder if they see the trough moving quicker and being further east at that time. Should that materialize and Bill makes it into the weakness it's only threat could be Bermuda.

The key uncertainty in my mind is going to be exactly where it is in relation to Bermuda. To that end the models still seem pretty uncertain...

I have to admit I had my doubts about the ECM situation but its utterly nailed this in the end.
