your loop seems to only be 3 frames versus the one above yours that has more and is where you can sort of see the circulation. # frames is just not enough to pick it up.

Whats the shear like in the north of cuba and in the gulf stream? We know water temps are pretty warm and wouldn't take much to get going if MLC is intact.

My loop has 20 frames where the previous loop had 3 or 4. Hmmm, wonder if weather underground is up to some tricks?

This is the models thread. But, a) Ana is obviously well north of where the models initiated it on the track plot map. b) Ana is obviously flaring-up in the exact same place as the wave that eventually became Claudette.

So I think it would be wise to assume at least another Tropical Storm downrange from this.

I do not think there is a Ana anymore.. just a open wave.

That center Mid level or not is tracking WNW and will move over the SW part of PR in a few hours and be really close to the N coast of Hispanola...

At lower levels I agree its not really a system but there is a mid level circulation, though even that isn't that potent looking right now to be honest.

I don't see how this can pass for a tropical cyclone anyore... it's a pretty pathetic wave even.

Who would of thought that Claudette would have become a TS?

The story about this will be when (or if) Ana gets north of the islands and tracks over open water.

I think it is reasonable to interpolate Ana will react as Claudette's wave did in the same track and develop.

Maybe the same conditions that kept Claudette down to TS level will still be there like Fay.

What is the time frame that Ana would be over the open water?

From the forward speed I would say tomorrow night after it deals with a piece of Hispaniola.

The difference is Sanibel when Claudette formed it had a strong upper high over it, sure that got dislodged later on but when it was forming shear was very low...this system has a filling upper low nearby it, conditions aren't nearly as good as they were this time 2 days ago...

However I think the models may well be missing something in the evolution and this does need watching of course.
