Hello, I have been studying many weather models for sometime now, and am able to read them really good. I have designed this website for the people of the desert southwest including Coastal Southern California. My Website is called the Desert Southwest Weather Service. In there I have Predictions, Models, and Discussions on each model to help you understand your weather. In here you can find out to brace for the worst, or asking the best. I serve Southern Nevada, Southern California, and All of Arizona now. If you want your state to be included in these in-depth discussions, please email the meteorlogist on the website.
note these dicussions take some time to study, and I will have them for the time being for 5pm example, these discussions are for 5pm today, August 1st 2003. ill have 5pm August 2nd sometime early morning between 1am-4am. this site is also a good tool for storm chasing. i have left the number you can reach the weather service at if you are on a cellphone in a car and wish to know where to go or what to do or call it quits.

Well well well, my first predictions for the Weather Service proved prett accurate. as you can see we are 30 minutes away from my prediction times, and already the CA/AZ storms have fired up, and so have the tucson ones! still waiting the Nevada ones which i concluded would be the weakest of the day, so probably not developing...a good start i would say...updating site as the day goes on. Tomorrows Storm Discussions and Predictions will arrive late tonight.

YEs steve, your discussions are great! combined yours with mine, we can really pinpoint the actions...BTW I am accepting requests if you want your state discussed as well. I could eventually push this as far as the Public NWS for the people, and not just of government use.

Update, I noticed the flooding in the Oro valley...Another prediction I made today as I said the storms will be slow moving North of Tucson..So my model reading seems to be working and im very happy of the results that happend today.

update...the "Desert Southwest' is a HUGE region dude...And according to your 'Official' Page the 'Monsoon' had NOT yet begun?HELLO!!!!!!!!!
Get with it and listen to the pros kid.
I know folks will say 'Hey Great Job!!' yada yada.I won't.Listen and learn.
That is the rule of the West.
Moreover...lessons of the 'West' are hard earned.
Kahuna and I have 60+yrs observing this phenom..and is still misunderstood.
I have spent YEARS as has Kahuna,observing,photographing,and writing about the infamous Monsoon.YEARS!
It may behoove you to come here...to my lab at the 'El Grillo De Monsoon'
to fully understand that what may affect me in Oro Valley..may NOT affect SEAZSKY...both in the same city!I an NOT a politically correct person...so excuse me..I am interested in the facts.
It may serve you well to spend some time between Tucson and Sierra Vista to experience what the REAL Monsoon can do.

Arizwx, the Map I made if you read it was for 5pm, not current. as for the official page, that is gone, this is the new page with alot of neat things on it. I just recently added a section i will update frequently, not 24/7, but frequently on the amount of precipitation, and the probability of Cloud to Ground Lightning strikes. go here for the updates.

Models Discussions will be updated for tomorrow at 5pm in between 2am-4am today.

I erally wish i could see what you mean, my main page doesnt have "its around the corner anywhere at all. it has the discussions, and storm paths and everything. nowhere does it say that. maybe you should refresh or something it doesnt look like that. if its the one with the GREEN background, thats the wrong one, and needs to be refreshed.

I agree Steve. Steve, DJ, M2 and everyone else provide alot of valuable "experience" and insight to what is going on in the Desert SW. I'm sure that Kevin can learn alot from all of you. The "good job" is meant as an encouragement and yeah, "good job" for taking the initiative and risk in providing a forecast. Hopefully he realizes that he can learn alot from our experienced forecasters here.

I happen to know Kevin personally and he mentioned this plan to me a while back. I think this is what he had in mind so IMO it should be given a chance so he can test it out and so he can work the kinks out of it before he does anything drastic with it.

to the latest WV imagery, the dryline is somewhat further east and stronger than the models were depicting and today's storms were shunted nearly out of AZ completely as far as the southern part of the State is concerned. Need to watch the dryline closely for severe thunderstorm focussing.
