GOM development?

#1 Postby Johnny » Fri Aug 01, 2003 1:01 pm

Someone posted this water vapor image on another site. By looking at the WV image it looks like we have a cyclone on our hands.lol There is a little bit of convection in the spin but not much. Any thoughts?

CUT-OFF UPPER LOW OVER THE CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO IS DRIFTING S
NEAR 24N90W. LARGE AREA OF CYCLONIC FLOW IS OVER THE GULF. A
COMBINATION OF A TROUGH MOVING ACROSS THE SE UNITED STATES AND
DAYTIME HEATING IS RESULTING IN AN ACTIVE CONVECTIVE DAY IN THE
COASTAL AREAS OF FLORIDA. ONLY A SLOW DRIFT TO THE SW IS
EXPECTED WITH THIS LOW AS A MEAN TROUGH REMAINS FAR TO THE N
WITH LITTLE TO KICK IT OUT.

Uhhh...it's an upper low. There is also a high at the sfc. Ain't no way we get a tropical system out of this.

BTW...any time you see a cyclonic spin in the water vapor loop...you are looking at an upper level low...not anything tropical.

I am experiencing some thunder and lightning from that system. At least I believe it is due to that system.
