I have Cirro energy... I pay 11 cents per Kwh.... Im not happy about paying that much for a bill, but you have to have a/c here! and fyi my house is 1700 sq ft, the kids are home for summer, so all the stuff is on in the house, and I keep the house on 78, though its been so hot out, it cant get below 80....

No door or windows open. Pool always drive it up abit during the summer. The house is 3500 sq ft. We did have house guests for 2 weeks, but the bill arrived right after their arrival. Therostats now set back to 80 downstairs and 83 upstairs. Oh, and A/C in shop is now off. :grrr:

I just got my bill in today. I was quite surprised to see it as low as it is. My son is back home so i thought it would be higher and also that it was extremely hot and dry. The ac seems like it's always running except for the wee hours of the morning. My bill shows my usage of the past year and my big bills are yet to come...August and September are my highest consumption months.

May (5/6-6/4): $148.37 1775 kw used at .0836/kw
June (6/5-7/6): $232.90 2886 kw used at .081/kw

I'm dreading my bill coming next week, even though it has not been that bad here in PA, the hubby has to have the AC on for his health, so even if it's been 60-70 at night, it has to be on and he has a fan on also, sigh.

The only other choice I have is to kick him out

My bill last month was $354.27 (3452 KWH, 4/26-5/25) and the most recent one was $365.63 (3634 KWH, 5/26-6/24)

yankee, it seems I used a little less in KWH than you, and my bill was a little less than yours. Not a big difference, though. Electricity sure isn't cheap here, either!

So far, July has been an absolute joy. By now, we'd be sweltering in over 90 degree weather and high humidity. We've been in the high 70's to low 80's and comfortable levels of humidity. It's been a weird year weather wise in the Mid Atlantic.

indeed..though it was 93 yesterday in bmore :D

$105 was our last electric bill. The month prior was $72. Two summers back we installed a new high efficiency central HVAC. We have 18 inches of insulation in the attic, ceiling fans in every room and blinds on all windows. Our single largest problem is a Four Seasons sunroom we installed on the southwest corner......it's nice in the winter but a cooker in the summer...it's like a 300 square foot oven......we've given up cooling the area in the summer.

Had the air on yesterday - second time all July. Philadelphia reached a high of 88 though the humidity wasn't too high. TODAY it is steamy...we're not used to this. Air's on again.

Your a/c is running full time and with 1700 sq ft you cannot get below 80F?.....something is definitely wrong. A standard residential 3 ton unit could easily accomplish that task. Have your unit serviced, check all your ducts for breaks or insulation loss. Is your attic properly ventilated? Consider a power turbine to remove some of the heat from your attic. How much insulation is in your attic?

While I pay the same amount each month (about $168), my most recent bill paid used 1699 KW hours and was $189.78 if I were to have paid it straight up instead of averaged. Temperature was at or above 100 for the entire period for highs....never below 70 for a low. The next bill for July should be interesting because we averaged 112.7 degrees for 10 days in the middle of the month. Will let you know. Again, 2000 sf house. We're happy 8-)
