1914 one storm supposeably

I wonder how far back the records go far El Nino or La Nina.1914 they only had one storm that formed that year. I'm sure their were more than that if it happened in this time era.

Data is incomplete for 1914, but there seemed to be an extended period of negative monthly SOI readings from 1912-1915. Have to remember too, that 1914 was a war year so ship reports would have been pretty much witheld from each other as far as nations were concerned.

I do wonder whether the war outbreak that summer/autumn may have had something to do with it?

1914 was an El Nino year. There were more storms likely that went undetected most likely in the open Atlantic. Also, it was the start of World War I, which would have an impact on shipping.
