West Africa / East Atlantic sat imagery?

#1 Postby KBBOCA » Mon Jun 15, 2009 8:00 am

Hey all,
I'm wondering if anyone knows what's up with the NOAA East Atlantic imagery. A lot of my links from last year are dead (i.e. all the links for Met9 on this page:
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/eumet/eatl.html )

I know the EUmetsat links are still good, e.g.
http://oiswww.eumetsat.org/IPPS/html/MS ... /index.htm

but I miss the NOAA AVN-enhanced images. They always loaded quickly and gave me a good quick glance at what waves were heading towards the African coast.

I have a particular interest. I'm currently working in West Africa (in Mauritania) and the rainy season here has gotten off to a pretty early start. (We've had showers today in Mauritania's capital, Nouakchott, which is really unusual for June). So, it's nice this time of year to see what waves are out there to our south and east.

Would welcome any links. Thanks.

LOL. Just too typical. After failing a number of times both yesterday and this morning to get the NOAA MET9 images to load (merely getting a blank map of West Africa), and thus posting my question here, the noon images are now loading just fine. So.... I guess my links aren't dead after all. Sorry!

But, still would welcome any additional links that folks here might like to recommend for monitoring West Africa weather.
