I can understand how confusing it can be to the contestants when they are told to "make it their own", but then they are told they butchered the song or were all over with it. IMHO, they have to be true to the song first and foremost. Then if that song matches their abilities, they should sing it.

FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE SIMON - DON'T BRING BACK LIL!

Ugh. Lil safe.

There's a very good chance the judges will save Matt IMO.

If they have Lil, they need to keep Matt.

Matt - NO falsetto needed in this song!

I don't think Simon wanted to, but IMHO, if Lil was back, Matt should've been as well.

Don'd get me wrong..Im a fan of Matt's but I agree with Simon..Hes not going to win the competition...Why bother postponing the inevitable.. Top 10 go on tour anyway...

IMO it makes one of the "Top 3" vulnerable next week cause 2 must go home with no save...Especially with Disco...Blah..

I wasn't home, but recorded it (along with LOST & the Rockets) on DVR. But I have an hour-filled technical difficulty message. I'm sure there's a lot of people more into AI than I am who are quite ticked at the moment. I was planning on saving it for some younger fans wanting to see Miley Cyrus.... guess that isn't gonna happen!

I'm not sure about Matt... sometimes I like him ok, sometimes I don't. But America has voted him off TWICE now, and the judges brought him back both times. I think they should have let him go tonight.

No he probably won't and Lil definitely won't, IMHO. If the bottom 3 of last night has been having this much trouble with some of the other themes, I can't imagine, though I've been wrong before, how they will pull one out of the hat next week with disco.

#1 Lil I'm Every Woman Chaka Khan yay she stayed away from Donna Summers . .. she did better than last time . . .

*goes to looking for CM and Brent*

#2 Kris She Works for the Money Donna Summer -- oookkaayy. . . . it was good if you weren't expect the "disco" genre .. . It was real good. . . .. *thwaps D5*

#3 Danny September -- pretty good and I'm not the biggest Danny fan (ok, I am first to pick on him)

#4 Allison Hot Stuff Donna Summers - love the rocker vibe, . . .awesome. . . are we sure she's 16?

#5 Adam If I Can't Have You -- technically good, but I was bored. .. . .no bleep, he will be in the finals

#6 Matt Staying Alive - justin timberlake doing Stay Alive :wall:

*looks at the picture of Adam going around on Twitter*
*checks hockey score* Canes 3-0 Det 3-0

#7 Anoop Dim All the Nights Loved the beginning. .. . should have kept it slower. . . ouch, the last note. . .he does look better . . .

Matt and Anoop and Lil at the bottom again Kris, Danny, Allison and Adam are way better at this point and Matt, Lil and Anoop have fallen behind. . .

Lil - the BEST performance of hers yet! PERFECT song for her, "I'm Every Woman".

I don't think that she was as bad as the judges said.

Kris - NOOOOOO..... You don't use an acoustic guitar for "She Works Hard for the Money"! Kara - no it didn't pay off big time - at least not for me. Yeah, it was original and not karaoke but I really didn't like it. I guess I prefer the original. I'm probably feeling like the Johnny Cash purists about "Ring of Fire".

Okay, the judges are pimping their favorites.

Lil-Too little too late, goodbye.

Kris-That was quite good. I was expecting a disaster. I see Paula is on drugs again(oh wait, was she ever off?)

MUCH MUCH better time management tonight. Cutting the mentor filler has made a huge difference already.

Danny-I loved that! Disco night is surprisingly good so far.

Allison-Eh, it was pretty good but I certainly did not like as much as past weeks.

Adam-A bit boring.

Matt-Appropriate song choice, lol. I liked it quite a lot.

Anoop-I wanted to like it but just couldn't. Pimp spot too(then again Lil had it last week). Could be in danger.

Going home: Lil for sure and ??? Anoop? Matt?

*faints* It's 8:58 and they are DONE!!!!!!!! I'm shocked,

GO DANNY!! I loved his version of "September"!!! :D

The judges were worried about the singers on disco night? REALLY?

I wasn't crazy about the arrangement for "Hot Stuff" and I don't think it was Allison's best either. I don't know about brilliant performance either.

Adam's was definitely original and pretty. It's not one of my favorite songs (I actually thought it was pretty boring during Saturday Night Fever). His arrangement kept it more in step with the original. He is definitely not a one trick pony. I think he's still safe no matter what.

Matt - pulled this one out of the hat! One of his better performances.

Anoop - I thought that it was nice also. He has a nice voice, I wasn't crazy about the arrangement either.

It's difficult to make genre specific songs "original". It had better be "WOW" or you're in trouble. I think that was the problem with a lot of these songs.

Lil -- agree with everyone else pretty much. This was much better than past weeks.

Kris -- I will be the first to admit that I don't know much about disco. Yet, I loved the performance!!! I found it absolutely awesome!!! What separates this change from Adam's Ring of Fire change is that this melody fit the meaning of the song and enhanced the vocal interpretation. It didn't allow Kris to pole dance with the mic.

Danny -- meh, I found that so boring! I won't remember it tomorrow.

Allison -- Not one of her better performances, but I wasn't expecting it either. Disco is not her thing and I think she did what she needed to do to get through to the next round.

Adam -- Contrary to what everyone else has commented, I feel that this Adam is one I would buy a record from. He had the emotion and the scaled back vocals (not quite so "in your face", which I detest). I still can't help but get a creepy vibe from him.

Matt -- I am sorry, but that was awful. He took breaths in the wrong places... couldn't even get through four bars in some parts. Combine that with his attempt to be Justin Timberlake, Jr. and I have to say it was by far THE WORST performance of the night!

Anoop -- What is with every guy growing facial hair? Is that the "in thing?" It looks copycat. I found the vocals "pitchy", but not as bad as Simon thought it went.

My order for tonight:
1. Kris
2. Adam
3. Allison
4. Lil
5. Danny
6. Anoop
7. Matt
