To those that do not follow Desperate Housewives, you skip the post below - LOL!

_________

I hate to say it but something was telling me Edie wouldn't die. At least not tonight. I think she'll hold on, go into a coma of sorts, talk to Mary Alice some, who will convince her to go back and turn her life around.

Why oh why do these TV show and movie characters talk with the suspect (ie, crazy person), without going to the authorities FIRST?! If Edie hadn't sent the text, but called the police AND Karen McCluskey to back her up, that Dave is nuts, then Dave could have returned home to a trap.

Ah but this is drama - LOL. The whole time I'm saying to Edie - pick up the phone, record what he is saying, have your hand on the door knob. Something but what she did!

But she did try to warn her friends - Mike. That was a kind thing to attempt. But did she think Dave would be reasonable? OMG!

Switching gears, Bree did the right thing when she kept her business but the second after she said the deal was off, she needed to remove her wedding ring and tell Orson to pack his bags. How she can still put up with him is beyond me. That guy - would be history!

The whole Carlos work situation played out so nicely. You gotta love Lynette! You just don't mess with Lynette. And Tom - gossiping with Gabby. Too funny!

TV ratings: NCAA, '60 Minutes' score Sunday
CBS wins the night with basketball, Obama interview

March 23, 2009

Fast National ratings for Sunday, March 22, 2009

The combination of NCAA basketball and an interview with the president on "60 Minutes" carried CBS to the top of the ratings on Sunday.

CBS averaged an 8.3 rating/14 share for the night to lead the overall race by a comfortable margin over ABC, 6.5/11. NBC finished third at 4.1/7. FOX, 3.0/5, took fourth, and The CW posted its usual meager Sunday numbers, finishing with a 0.6/1.

CBS also led among adults 18-49 with a 3.5 rating. ABC was right behind at 3.4. FOX, 2.4, came in third in the demographic, followed by NBC, 2.1, and The CW, 0.3.

Coverage of the NCAA tournament extended until about 7:50 p.m. ET and combined with "60 Minutes" to average 9.5/17 for the hour (because of the live sports, the network's numbers will change some in the final nationals). NBC's "Dateline," 4.3/8, finished second in households, but "America's Funniest Home Videos" (4.2/7) brought a few more viewers to ABC. Repeats of "American Dad" and "King of the Hill" averaged 1.5/3 for FOX, while The CW aired a "Jericho" repeat.

CBS improved to 9.9/16 at 8 p.m. with "60 Minutes," which featured an interview with President Obama, and the first few minutes of "The Amazing Race." ABC grabbed second with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 5.8/9. "The Simpsons," 3.6/6, and "King of the Hill," 3.3/5, moved FOX ahead of NBC and "Kings," 2.9/5. The CW went with the movie "The Mod Squad."

"Desperate Housewives," 9.2/14, moved ABC into the lead at 9. "The Amazing Race" and the start of "Cold Case" combined for a 7.0/11 on CBS. "Family Guy," 4.5/7, and "American Dad," 3.7/6, kept FOX in third, just beating "The Celebrity Apprentice," 4.1/7, on NBC. The CW's movie trailed.

"Brothers & Sisters" (7.0/11) led in households at 10 for ABC, but CBS drew more viewers with "Cold Case" and "The Unit," which averaged 6.8/11. "The Celebrity Apprentice" rose to 5.2/9 for NBC.

I am totally confused. I don't see how she's not dead but they certainly left it open last night. I heard she's off the show completely so I don't see how she sticks around unless it's all lies.

If you're confused, what am I?

Well, me being much older than you Brett and someone who watched many a soap opera in her day, for decades, I don't really trust a character's death on a show like this.

If Bobby Ewing (Dallas) can come back from the "dead" then Edie most certainly can survive.

You have to keep in mind that DH has used many soap opera cliches in the past: Coma, amnesia, cheating, paternity questioned (Carlos/Gabby's surrogate, Kayla, etc.).

I wouldn't trust anything DH is hinting at right now. I don't even trust promos either. Fans on the DH IMDB board say they saw Mrs. McClusky holding someone's ashes in an urn. We're led to believe they are Edie's. Again, I don't quite buy this either.

LOL - let's just see how this plays out.

LOL, yeah I know.

I saw that in the promo too and I strongly suspect it's Edie, I know the women take a road trip to tell Edie's son Travers about it, but that could also be just misdirection(there is VERY little info about the remaining episodes this season, since it's 4 weeks til the next one). I kind of hope Edie survives to be honest because I've always loved her sarcastic tone with the other women, but we'll see. I didn't think there would be any doubt about it.

At 10, ABC will have Primetime, CBS a new episode of The Mentalist at a special time, and NBC more Biggest Loser.

TV Ratings: 'Dancing' dominates on Monday
ABC scores a convincing win on rerun-studded night

March 24, 2009

Fast National ratings for Monday, March 23, 2009

ABC coasted to a ratings win on Monday night as FOX and CBS rested two of their biggest shows.

For the night, ABC averaged a 10.8 rating/17 share, easily beating CBS' 6.5/10. FOX came in third with a 5.4/8. NBC, 4.0/6, took fourth, while The CW trailed with a 1.5/2.

ABC also led the adults 18-49 demographic, scoring a 4.2 rating. CBS finished second at 3.4, followed by FOX at 3.0. NBC, 2.4, was fourth, and The CW averaged 1.1.

"Dancing With the Stars" dominated the 8 o'clock hour with a 12.4/19. FOX finished a distant second with a "House" repeat. A new "How I Met Your Mother" scored a 4.5/7 for CBS, followed by a repeat that drew a 4.2/6. "Chuck," 3.7/6, finished fourth for NBC. "Gossip Girl" earned a 1.5/2 for The CW.

ABC improved to 13.3/19 at 9 p.m. with the second hour of "Dancing With the Stars." "Heroes" managed only a 4.0/6 for NBC. The CW's "One Tree Hill" improved slightly on its lead-in.

"CSI: Miami," 8.6/14, gave CBS the lead at 10. "Castle" posted a 6.6/11 for ABC, and "Medium" drew a 4.4/7 for NBC.

'Destroyed in Seconds' on Discover Channel.

30 minute episodes of idiots who run from cops and get crushed by 18 wheelers when they run red lights, top fuel dragsters and funny cars suffering various malfunctions at speeds in excess of 100 mph, sometimes 200 mph usually resulting in fiery crashes, helicopter accidents, avalanches and air show mishaps.

Pretty low quality TV, but if I'm home and nothing good is on...

The Office will definitely be back, it's one of NBC's highest-rated shows(that's not saying much). 30 Rock has critical acclaim on it's side so it has a good shot at returning. Chuck though is in big time danger. I really don't think it'll be back. Leno will be taking over the 10pm hour 5 nights a week next season, which means NBC will be programming 5 less hours(plus Sunday is football through December), so a lot of shows will be getting canceled because of that and to make room for new shows(NBC desperately needs a new hit). It's ratings in 18-34 last week fell behind Univision(Spanish language network!) to 5th place. and it's overall ratings are closer to Univision and The CW than to ABC/CBS/FOX. It's really pathetic what NBC has become, 10-15 years ago they were untouchable and now they don't even belong in the big 3. I think if something doesn't change soon you're going to see NBC become more like a cable channel.

I don't see how Chuck can survive either. It will go the same way Studio 60 and Eli Stone did - pulled before it has a real chance. I do like Chuck though, it's a fun show. A parody of spy shows or movies. It's always aired in the 8 pm timeslot though. So maybe it still has a chance? Eli Stone and S60 both were in the 10 pm timeslot, if I remember correctly.

It's debatable about Chuck. It has aired in the same timeslot, but it premiered to good numbers last season and became a victim of the strike like ABC's Wednesday dramas did. Eli Stone aired after DH and Lost, it had more than enough chances(plus it aired during the strike when the other nets were in repeats), more than Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money got(now those shows never got a chance) It's ratings started well but people lost interest. It also aired after DWTS, ABC's top show when it returned this season and utterly failed with awful ratings.

I would pull chuck and the office. Chuck was good, but got boring and a bad time slot. The office was just too dumb and ridiculous for me.

There are people voting for Woz that are not even bothering to watch DTWS . . . . there are websites, twitterfeed and a Facebook page dedicated to voting for Woz. They pick a geek icon to be on the show. . . the geeks have figured out to how to the game the system.. . there is an interview where Woz explains how to get a 10 out of 30 every single performance and yet stay out of the bottom two . . . . They have done the math, statistical analysis and the psychological study of the show.. . . blah, blah . .
